How to improve your company’s visibility in local Google results?

Running a great business is not enough if no one knows about it. In a world where a customer’s first instinct when looking for a service is to type a query into Google, not having your company on the first page of results means a daily loss of profits.

The Google algorithm, when deciding who to show in local search results (especially in the so-called Local Pack), takes into account three main factors: Relevance, Distance, and Prominence. How can you influence them? By optimizing the following 4 elements.

1. Google Business Profile (Your absolute priority)

A Google Maps listing is the most important tool in local SEO. The algorithm heavily relies its results on the data contained there.
– Make sure the company name is real (without forcefully stuffing keywords).
– Choose the most precise primary category (e.g., “Dental clinic” instead of a general “Doctor”).
– Fill in all possible fields: opening hours, service area, website link.
– Regularly add new photos (from the outside, inside the office, photos of completed work) – this is a powerful signal for the algorithm that the business is thriving.

2. Website Optimization (Local keywords)

Google connects your Maps listing with your website. The website must confirm what you declare in the listing.
Many entrepreneurs create beautiful websites about services, but… they forget to write where they provide them! If you do interior design in Wrocław, the word “Wrocław” and names of neighborhoods must appear on your website.
– Add the city name to the main heading (H1) on the homepage.
– Place a location map in the “Contact” tab.
– In the “About Us” section, mention how long you have been operating in the given local market.

3. NAP (Name, Address, Phone) Consistency

Google is largely a data comparison machine. It wants to be absolutely sure that when showing your company to a user, it won’t send them to the wrong address. It verifies this by scanning the entire web looking for so-called NAP (Name, Address, Phone) citations.
Ensure that your data is 100% identical in all key places on the internet:
– On your website (preferably in the footer so it appears on every subpage).
– In the Google Business Profile.
– On your company Facebook profile.
– In local and industry business directories.

Even minor differences (e.g., providing “Długa 5 St.” once, and “Długa 5 apt. 2” another time) can cause uncertainty for the algorithm.

4. Trust (Content and Reviews)

The third, extremely important factor is building trust. For Google, trust is primarily what others say about you.
– Reviews on your profile: The quantity, quality, and frequency of new reviews on Google have a direct impact on your ranking position. A company with 50 regularly acquired reviews will always win against one that has 5 reviews collected 3 years ago. Remember to also reply to each of them!
– Content (local content): Publish articles answering residents’ questions on your website or blog. If you are a lawyer, write an article about “What the procedures look like in the district court in [Your City]”. This attracts perfectly targeted, local traffic.

Summary

Improving visibility in local results is not a one-time effort, but a process. If you optimize your Google Business Profile, ensure that your website speaks the same (local) language, and implement a system for regularly collecting reviews – the increase in inquiries from the search engine will only be a matter of time.
